VCA Animal Hospitals demonstrates that when organizations work together, small change benefits local companion animal welfare organizations

BROCKTON, MA –September 4, 2018 – VCA Animal Hospitals, the nation’s largest animal hospital network, and its nonprofit partner organization VCA Charities, together have successfully raised over $565,000 to support regionally selected companion animal welfare organizations in the annual company-wide Pennies for Pets campaign.

From April to June 2018, 7 hospitals collected donations by encouraging clients to round up their transaction amounts to the nearest dollar or donate online. The local campaign raised $7,423.23 for The Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts, an education and outreach focused animal shelter located in Brockton. The donation of $7,423.23 will prove very valuable to The Animal Protection Center, enabling the organization to continue its important work in the community.

“We are thankful for the generosity of VCA’s clients across the country who have demonstrated their generosity by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar and helping us achieve our ambitious fundraising goal during this year’s successful campaign,” said Ron Tatum, VCA Charities executive director. “Donated small change resulted in raising over half a million dollars that directly benefit community-based animal welfare organizations. This donation is part of the $565,000 raised across the country through our Pennies for Pets campaign.”

“We want to thank all of those clients, donors and staff for helping to make this year’s Pennies for Pets a success here in Southeastern Massachusetts,” said Moira Griffiths, Regional Operations Director. “These funds are helping our valued animal welfare partner groups improve lives in our community.”

These efforts would not have been possible without the help of the hospital teams and the generous clients at VCA Brookline Animal Hospital, VCA Metro Cat Animal Hospital, VCA Hanson Animal Hospital, VCA Whitman Animal Hospital, VCA North Main Street Veterinary Clinic, VCA Plymouth Animal Hospital and Pet Resort, and VCA Pleasant Bay Animal Hospital.
